IS IT OKAY? FOR CHILDREN TO BELIEVE IN SANTA?
HELLO PEOPLE
Many of us know Santa Claus as that jolly man in red who delivers presents to children on Christmas Eve. But the legend of Santa stretches back hundreds of years ago to a monk named St. Nicholas. Many people say that St. Nicholas gave away his inheritance and travelled the countryside to help the poor and sick. He became the protector of children and was admired by everyone.
DURING childhood, imagination blurs the line between fantasy and reality, making it easier for children to believe. The idea of a man flying around the world in a sleigh led by flying reindeer is humanly impossible but as for kids it is quite certainly possible as they believe what they want to believe.
In my opinion it is okay as well as normal for children to believe in Santa, we all are allowed to have our fare share of fairy fantasies... wink wink! Besides it enhances children's power of hospitality. It creates joyful and fun experiences for children. It also provides opportunities for shared belief and play, reliving and sharing childhood memories, and encouraging empathy, kindness and generosity.
So, to sum it up I think it's quite normal for kids to believe in Santa but we should always remember that there is a very thin line between living in fantasy and in exposure of reality. We should always make sure that kids do not slip away in their dream land otherwise their future might be in jeopardy.
It's just my opinion and I know many may agree with may and others might disagree but we can at least respect one another's perspectives.
